Resetting the dancefloor

Arguably one of the best beach clubs in the world, Blue Marlin Ibiza offers an all-day destination for lounging, swimming, eating and dancing by the sea from 10am till sunrise

Ibiza has been described as heaven on earth for people who like to let go on the dancefloor. The Ibiza nightlife scene was born in the 1960s. In Spain, hoards of young people formed a movement that rejected mainstream ways of life. Their aim was to advocate love, freedom and promote openness and nonviolence.

The main driving force behind this philosophy was music. During the time music gave people a sense of generational solidarity. It made them feel like they were different. It gave them a sense of being embattled after being considered outsiders’ or rebellions.

Being freed from conformity and being a part of something new and exciting was at the very heart of the birth of the now internationally recognized world class clubbing in the White Isle.

Fast forward post pandemic, and the buzzing island of love and music accustomed to welcoming millions of international revelers has been comparatively dormant for the last three summers. Yet the summer season of 2022 has started with a bang as an unstoppable energy is ripping through the dance floor. The masks are off and with restrictions lifted the fresh air has come like a breath of life for an island that is once again opening up to the world.

There can be no denying that the effective renaissance of this Mediterranean jewel is improving the mental health of people who are desperate to rub shoulders, dance and party again. With businesses and services across Europe and the rest of the world being disrupted by the pandemic, pressure and stress has been building in people accustomed to letting off steam and tripping the light fantastic. Now though, in Ibiza the cork has popped.

With glitz and sophistication and everything typical of the Ibizan VIP scene the original Blue Marlin Ibiza, opening its doors again this summer, is an iconic beach club located on the shores of Cala Jondal. Now world renowned, Blue Marlin Ibiza prime time is at sunset when the international jet set take to the glamourous terrace. It offers the classic setting to create an amazing positive energy and happy vibe. Increasingly known as a world class house music party destination, day clubbers can enjoy some of the world’s best DJs. Regularly cranking up the sound system is resident DJ Oscar Akagy who says following the pandemic he has noticed “people want to have a good time and enjoy the moment to the fullest. People are more receptive and happier. It’s as if we’ve had a reset. Music and social unity are what’s most needed right now. We have to forget a little about everything that has happened and enjoy life.”

Asked why, after all these years, the Ibiza party scene is still unique Oscar explains that “the energy in Ibiza is different. The scene is constantly evolving. It is the nerve center of the world’s electronic music and that will never change. The years go by, there is only one Ibiza.”

Ibiza leaves an indelible impression on young and aging clubbers alike. The philosophy is undoubtedly to squeeze every last drop of fun out of life. Summer 2022 is important as it is a beacon towards which people can set a course- a tangible oasis of fun and pleasure that represents the fruit of each individual’s labor. If music be the food of love…. go to Ibiza!

For those craving to fulfil the thrill of temptation, to escape from society’s idea of conformity and the constraints of the recent past and go to a place where you can simply be yourself, a trip to Blue Marlin Ibiza should certainly be in the agenda for the reset summer of 2022full_stop
